I think its definitely a great idea to rate or digg your own articles, it gives you a head start when it comes to promotion and then the more digg followers you have, the more likely you are to get more diggs. Its also a good idea to try and communicate closely with certain friends on digg, and encourage them to rate or digg your submisssions. Then tell them you will gladly reciprocate.
